These are the pieces that fall off. Every
day, chunks of ice the size of buildings
calve from the face of Perito Moreno and
drift into Lago Argentino. This shot was
taken looking straight down at them from
the shoreline walkway, close enough to
hear them creak.

The blue is real. Ancient glacial ice
compresses air out over thousands of years
and absorbs red light, leaving only this.
